Mass Effect is one of my absolute favorite series. I've played each game in the series multiple times — I've beaten ME1 five times, which probably says a lot about me on its own — and yet I paid very little attention to Andromeda as its release approached. I wasn't even sure I was going to get it. When the reviews hit, they weren't great, and I wasn't exactly excited. Ultimately I figured I'd give it a shot and see how it was, if nothing else.
I was maybe thirty seconds into the game when I remembered how much I loved this series. The opening text came up, the music started playing, and welp. There I went.
I don't think Andromeda is a game for everyone, but it was absolutely the game for me — someone who, as I said, absolutely loves this series. I hadn't realized just how much I'd missed this universe until I was wandering around the Nexus talking to turians and krogan and salarians and getting little bits of information about the world. What made Andromeda even better was that it was built around the sense of wonder and discovery, of finding new planets, new people, new everything.
All in all, Andromeda was an experience I loved, and it's easily one of the games that's most immersed me. I'm looking forward to going back and playing it again and again. 💗
