about the show
Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir is an animated series produced by a worldwide team, from Zagtoon and Method Animation in France to Toei Animation in Japan and SAMG Animation in South Korea. The series began airing in 2015 in South Korea and France and soon spread across the globe.
The show centers on Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste, who transform into Ladybug and Cat Noir in order to protect Paris. Their enemy, Hawk Moth, seeks their Miraculouses, the magical item that allows them to transform into their alter-egos. In order to retrieve their Miraculouses, Hawk Moth sends evil butterflies called akuma out into the city, which transform the people into dangerous villains.
By day, though, Marinette is nothing more than a normal teenage girl in middle school, and no one — not even her partner Cat Noir — knows her identity as Ladybug. She spends her time daydreaming about her crush, the model Adrien Agreste. Who, of course, is Cat Noir. But he has no idea of Marinette's feelings, and his attention is devoted towards his own crush, Ladybug. Who constantly rejects his advances because of her crush on Adrien.
In other words, Marinette and Adrien are beyond a love triangle. They're in a love square with themselves, and neither one has the slightest idea.
Miraculous is airing internationally in many different languages; you can find a full rundown here.
