Quick note: because Lost is best watched if you know as little as possible, I'm gonna write this as spoiler-light as I can. Apologies if it comes off confusing as a result. It's hard to write around stuff.

I first watched Lost between seasons 2 and 3 — my brother had the DVDs, I think, and of course when you watch Lost you have to marathon the DVDs. There's no other way to do it. So when season 3 started with Juliet in her kitchen, my first thought was "who is this and where the hell are the survivors from the crash and why are they having a goddamn book club."

I only watched a couple episodes of season 3 as it aired (I'm really bad at watching shows as they air, I'd rather marathon them later), and I ended up catching up again near the end of season 5. Let me tell you, worst possible place to catch up, especially as it pertains to Juliet. Waiting to find out what happened between seasons 5 and 6 was the worst thing ever. No, I'm still not over it.

Juliet had become my favorite character somewhere in there when I caught up, and when I came back and rewatched the show in 2013, I found that it held true. Knowing her backstory makes watching her introduction in season 3 so much better, and I found myself even more invested in her than I had been the first time I watched the show back when it was airing. (Turns out Lost is even better when you know what all the twists are. Who knew.) She has a character arc that's really unique out of any character on the show, I think, and it's one of the most enjoyable to watch.

I have no idea why I've always associated magnolias with Juliet. Years ago I had thoughts of making a fansite for her and planned on calling it Magnolia, and I couldn't tell you why. I doubt I'll ever build said fansite, but I'm happy to show her some love with a fanlisting, at least.
