I came across The Expanse by pure chance: I was browsing Prime Video and saw the thumbnail, and was intrigued enough by the description to check it out. It took virtually no time at all for the series to enthrall me. I'm a huge fan of space operas, and I'd been longing for a new one since Battlestar Galactica ended. Of course I immediately enjoyed The Expanse.

It's not just the show, though — the books are fantastic. They aren't quite the same, of course, but if you want a sweeping space opera, look no further. I especially recommend the books to anyone who wants to know what happens next: the last three books aren't part of the TV show, and they're phenomenal.

Site title is from an episode in season 2 and refers to Prax's monologue about the failure of simple complex systems. It's long been one of my favorite scenes, and I feel like it encapsulates the entire series well.
