It will probably not come as a surprise to learn that I main red mage in Final Fantasy XIV.

That said, it's been one of my favorite Final Fantasy jobs from long before that — it's a great choice in Tactics Advance, the game I started with, and entirely versatile in many other games in the series. I once did a run of XII: Zodiac Age with everyone as a red battlemage. I will always pick it in the first Final Fantasy. And I'll probably use it longer than I should in games where it's not ideal. (Also, as you may have guessed from the name of my domain, I like the color red a lot.)

The FFXIV red mage is the one I've played the most, though, and it's easily my favorite gameplay of just about anything. Between the stylish outfits and the coolest weapon ever (a rapier with a floating magic focus? Perfection), it just never gets old to me. Maybe one day I'll play FFXI's iteration of RDM as well.
